Niice – an inspiration search engine
Need some creative inspiration? Niice it! It’s a new website that searches and pulls stuff from portfolio sites Dribbble and Behance (with apparently more to come). I searched for ‘cake logo’!
Kickass website of the week
Five years ago I never thought there could be so much animation and interaction in a website without the use of Flash. Thank god (aka developers) for modern web browsers and new technology like HTML5. The animation in this site all happens by scrolling. It’s pretty cool to watch and has some fun/frightening facts– stop ...
Dishonesty never looked so good
Just a few of my favorite hand-drawn lies from Lauren Hom’s blog, Daily Dishonesty.
Kickass website of the week
This is a really cool website that not only is very nicely designed but contains some great interviews with some super-talented photographers and, of course, a lot of beautiful photography.
Harvard University Press goes minimal
So simple, but actually pretty clever and effective. Way to finally embrace modern design, Harvard. [via designboom]
How to ride an escalator
Funny little illustration here from designer Helen Tseng. I have definitely seen all of these on various escalators in the lovely New York City subway system (sadly even the pooping one– not right on the escalator, but close enough). [via The Bold Italic]
So you think you can kern?
Kern Type is a fun little game to test your kerning skills (one of the most important life skills). Apprehensive to play at first, as I was afraid a low score would prove that I’m a bad designer, I ended up getting an 84 out of 100. Not sure how that compares to other designers, but ...
Kickass website design of the week
A website for a police department? I know, seriously. These types of sites for government institutions are typically some of the worst, looking like they were designed in the mid-90s (probably because most were) and never updated. This one is pretty great though, and just so unusually cool for the subject matter. The parallax scrolling ...
Fifty and Fifty: The State Mottos
Just a few of my favorite posters from the Fifty and Fifty project. You can see them all in person at the Ace Hotel here in New York. It’s curated by the super talented designer Dan Cassaro. [via Cool Hunting]
Kickass website design of the week
I really like the use of textures on the site. The hanging frame and tags on the ART OF COFFEE page are a cool idea too. Also, coffee– it’s pretty awesome.
